The Canada, Americas and Pacific Area (CAPA) of the CWGC covers all of Canada, United States, the Caribbean, Central America, South America and the Falkland Islands (31 countries) in the CanAm Region and another 14 countries in the Pacific Region including China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Fiji, Thailand, Singapore, and Myanmar. We are responsible for caring and maintaining 72,000 war graves, over 66,000 commemorations, 89 CWGC owned cemeteries and other sites with memorials, stones of remembrance and crosses of sacrifice.
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Horticulture Coordinator, who would be responsible for the upkeep of horticulture sites throughout CAPA by preparing and completing the horticulture plans, inspection plans, identifying maintenance and repair requirements, and overseeing the CWGC-compliant documentation needed to ensure remedial and maintenance work can be successfully completed.
So that you know what to expect on any given day, you’ll be doing one or a variety of these tasks:
General
- Oversees the inspection and maintenance of horticulture sites throughout CAPA
- Ensures the upkeep of horticulture across CAPA by preparing and completion the horticulture plans, inspection plans, identifying maintenance and repair requirements, and overseeing the CWGC-compliant documentation needed to ensure remedial and maintenance work can be completed
- Prepare the annual Horticulture Plan, the CAPA Five (5) Year Horticultural Plan, and in developing the related horticulture budgets
- Identifies and coordinates all necessary horticulture work that may arise outside of the specifications of standing horticulture contracts
- Develops and implements horticulture contracts and agreements to actively monitor contractor performance against contract terms
- Maintain accurate and updated records of cemetery horticulture assets across CAPA
- Acts as the CAPA point of contact for all horticulture issues and inquiries
- Guides and mentors CAPA staff and horticulture contractors to ensure standards are met and upheld
- Supports and participates in CWGC-wide Horticulture initiatives and provides a CAPA perspective as needed
- Plans and conducts cyclical survey tours across CAPA, including inspection of CAPA assets (markers, memorials, structures) beyond horticultural components
- Ensures all assigned works are completed effectively and efficiently within defined budgets
- Prepares contract documents, including detailed work specifications in accordance with Commission policies and procedures, monitors progress, and reviews deliverables for payment
- Identify horticultural training needs for staff and highlight skill gaps
- Ensures highest standards of Health and Safety are met, implements Health and Safety policies and effectively manages risk of safe working practices on behalf of the CWGC and CAPA

As a Health and Safety Advisor you will be the champion safety standards, working with colleagues to ensure that our Global Standards are put into place effectively.
You will travel extensively across Africa and other areas, putting in place action plans and ensuring training is developed and, where required delivered.
To be successful within this position you will ideally have experience within the amenity horticulture, construction or other similar industry. Demonstrating your technical knowledge in electrical safety and machinery safety you will raise standards of health and safety. You will be a proficient communicator with skills supporting a wide variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
What you'll need to have
Relevant qualification in Health & Safety. As a minimum:

About this role and you:
As our Technical Supervisor, you will be the champion of operational excellence and sustainability across all CWGC sites within your region. You will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the Area Business Plan, ensuring that maintenance standards and horticultural practices are consistently met.
You will inspect the cemetery and memorial, organise and conducting regular site visits to ensure adherence to CWGC technical and Health & Safety standards. Your responsibilities will include the preparation and submission of detailed reports, work plans, and achievements against targets, ensuring that all maintenance and project work is completed to the highest standards.
Your expertise will support the effective delivery of routine horticultural maintenance, and you will take a proactive approach to resolving urgent horticultural issues as they arise.
To be successful in this position, you will have significant experience in horticultural management and maintenance within a complex, multi-site environment. You will be skilled in coordinating training programs for staff and contractors, ensuring consistency in the application of horticultural and Health & Safety practices. Your ability to manage projects, conduct risk assessments, and promote safe working practices will be essential in maintaining the integrity and sustainability of CWGC sites.
You will also be responsible for supporting the development of management skills among Head Gardeners, ensuring they are equipped to lead their teams effectively. As the regional lead for PUWER & CoSHH compliance, you will ensure that all legal requirements are met, contributing to the overall safety and sustainability of our operations.

Job description
The Area Director F/M role in France is a Senior Leadership position which sits as part of a Global Leadership Team. Its purpose is to lead, direct and represent the Commission’s activities and strategy within Area (mainly in France, but also in Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Azores and Maderia), ensuring the maintenance and conservation of cemeteries, graves and memorials to meet the Corporate mission; to contribute to Corporate strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementation of the overall strategy of the CWGC, to which he/she contributes
- Management and development of a “business unit” (finance, HR, legal, marketing, communication & reputation).
- External management of stakeholders: embassies, local governments and authorities, similar organisations of other countries, military organisations, education community
- Representative & organizational functions for events (like Commemoration, Anniversary, Remembrance events) in the Area, to develop the reputation, the impact and the influence of the CWGC.
- P&L management/ operational budget of circa £20 million.
- Deployment of the human and organisational transformation plan linked to climate change and environmental impact, changes to working patterns.
- Overseeing, through the Deputy, the day-to-day activities of the horticultural staff and stones masons (staffing of circa 400 employees)
Professional experience and skills
- Experience (>15y) of managing a profit centre / P&L management, including people management, budget management, marketing, legal, activity reporting, etc.
- Proven experience of extensive leadership role in change environment
- Experience of working in different cultures, with an understanding of cultural and political sensitivities.
- A good knowledge of the Diplomatic and Government structure in France
- Representation skills, knowing how to represent the company to the various stakeholders, organise events or take part in them.
- Excellent knowledge and expertise of the Area and an understanding of the wider Organisation.

Your Responsibilities
- To carry out manual horticultural maintenance, renovation work and caretaking duties; undertaking tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, pruning, and planting, in accordance with training and Horticultural practices
- To ensure that all of the Commission's safety procedures and safe working practices are observed, and that all lawful safety instructions are always followed
- To report to Line Management any structural defects noted, any development of the surroundings of environment of cemeteries and memorials which are observed during maintenance duties
- If required, stand in for the Line Manager in his absence, taking charge of the staff, equipment, vehicles and resources; deploying these in the most efficient and economical manner possible
- To ensure the proper maintenance, use and storage of the group’s horticultural machines in order to optimize their lifespan. Discuss with his/her Line Manager the need for machine renewals
- To inform and guide visitors
- Travel within the Area to ensure additional projects are carried out
You will be able to demonstrate
- More than 6 years of working experience in gardening activities
- Relevant certification would be desirable
- Landscaping experience would be desirable
- Previous experience with irrigation systems would be desirable
- Previous experience with aboriculture works would be desirable
- Passed or ability to learn the Commissions Horticultural practices
- Excellent working knowledge of Greek
- Working knowledge of English
- Knowledge of the computer tool and software of the MS Office and Internet Pack

What you’ll be doing
As Head Gardener, you’ll take charge of the daily care and maintenance of cemeteries and plots. You’ll plan tasks, organise resources, and ensure everything meets the highest standards. From planting and pruning to renovations, you’ll use your skills to keep the grounds beautiful and well-maintained.
You will also lead a team of gardeners. This includes setting goals, providing training, and reviewing their progress. Your role will involve providing guidance when needed and making sure everyone works safely and effectively.
Working with contractors will be part of your responsibilities. You’ll monitor their work, provide guidance, and ensure they follow our standards.
What you need to have
- A BTEC National Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Amenity Horticulture (or equivalent) is essential. Relevant horticultural experience will be considered
- Proven experience in horticultural practices
- Experience in supervising a team, setting performance goals, conducting appraisals, and training
Strong communication skills - Knowledge of health and safety policies, including risk assessments, COSHH, and safe working practices
- A good level of computer literacy

The ‘Eyes on, Hands On’ project is a new venture which seeks to develop a volunteer network to link communities in the UK with the CWGC sites in their local area. In this role you will develop opportunities to use volunteers to support and supplement the care provided by regional operations staff to CWGC commemorations.
You will liaise closely with the local Regional Manager, in-place Volunteer Coordinators and your volunteers, building and maintaining partnerships with a wide range of volunteer organisations and associations, ensuring regular engagement. You will also build upon established good working relationships with external cemetery groups where opportunities exist in relation to the project.

About this Role and You
As our Horticultural Supervisor you will be the champion of ensuring standards of maintenance are delivered consistently across all sites within Egypt. Lead in the on the management and maintenance of all irrigations systems, including developing plans to reduce water use across all cemeteries in Egypt.
Effectively manage the operational workforce, preparing and submitting reports following inspection visits to ensure horticultural standards set are within Performance Quality Management Systems.
To be successful within this position you will have extensive practical experience in a horticultural role, leading teams and practical on site project management with good budget management skills.
You will be a good communicator skilful at fostering and developing productive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
You will be an excellent motivator, capable of mentoring and encouraging your team to achieve their highest potential. Demonstrate the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, organising work to meet deadlines set by others.
You will be able to demonstrate
- A recognised professional horticultural qualification or relevant experience
- Excellent Computer literacy including ability to use APPs and other software in English

About this Role
As the Country Manager, you'll lead dedicated teams preserving war graves and memorials across over 30 sites throughout Malaysia, ensuring these monuments stand as eternal testaments to sacrifice and courage. This unique role blends team leadership and horticultural management expertise with diplomatic finesse. As the senior Country official, you’ll represent the CWGC and are responsible for ensuring health and safety of all staff, contractors, and visitors on site.
What you'll be doing
- You will lead and manage the CWGC’s operational commitment in Malaysia, implementing organisational policy, including that relating to the application of approved working practices, health and safety and environmental standards, and policies relating to corporate objectives
- Identify training needs for all assigned staff and ensure the training is completed
- Maintain accurate cemetery documentation such as legal and financial records, technical data, drawings, and plans
- Support the Regional Manager with routine Human Resource functions such as induction training, health and safety training, absence management, and disciplinary action, if needed
- Ensure that staff are working in a safe manner and that they are making safe and compliant use of all equipment being used in their assigned tasks
